Founder HearShield Pro
Kellye Davidson is the founder of HearShield Pro, an audiology systems workflow designer dedicated to helping independent audiology clinics protect their revenue, strengthen their operations, and maintain long-term independence in a rapidly changing healthcare landscape.
Background
Kellye brings over 21 years of healthcare experience, including 14 years working in broader healthcare operations and 7 years focused specifically in the audiology sector. Her background spans clinical operations, healthcare finance, payer strategy, and practice technology—giving her a rare systems-level perspective on how healthcare businesses actually function.
Early in her career, Kellye managed and operated five urgent care centers, gaining extensive hands-on experience with healthcare workflows, insurance reimbursement, staffing, and multi-site practice management. During this time, she earned her Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MHA), strengthening her expertise in healthcare systems, finance, and organizational strategy.
Private Practice
In 2019, Kellye entered the audiology industry by working within her family’s private audiology practice. It was there that she began to see the unique complexities of the hearing care sector. Unlike most healthcare specialties, audiology operates within a hybrid model that blends medical care, insurance reimbursement, and retail device sales—a structure that often creates operational confusion for independent practices.
Driven to understand the system more deeply, Kellye spent an extraordinary amount of time mapping how the audiology industry actually works—studying payer contracts, reimbursement models, manufacturer relationships, office management systems, and the rapidly expanding role of third-party administrators (TPAs).
Manufacturer
When the family practice was later sold to a hearing aid manufacturer, Kellye transitioned into the manufacturer’s mergers and acquisitions department, where she worked on practice acquisition and integration initiatives. This role provided an inside perspective on industry consolidation and how independent practices are evaluated within corporate healthcare strategies.
Practice Management Software
She was later recruited by an audiology office management software (OMS) company, where she worked closely with practices implementing practice management systems, billing workflows, and operational processes. Through this work, Kellye saw a consistent pattern: clinics were adopting powerful technology platforms but were rarely shown how to configure those systems to support their actual business model and revenue structure.
Combining Experience
Across these experiences—private practice operations, manufacturer strategy, and healthcare technology—Kellye developed a comprehensive understanding of the operational infrastructure that drives audiology practices, including:
- Practice workflow and operational design
- Billing and reimbursement strategy
- Medicare and Medicare Advantage dynamics
- Third-party administrator (TPA) networks
- OMS/EHR systems and data architecture
- Pricing strategy and revenue modeling
- Manufacturer influence on independent practices
Advocating for Private Practices
Kellye has also been a strong advocate for independent practice sustainability. She presented at the Florida Academy of Audiology conference, where she spoke about the economic impact of third-party administrator networks and strategies practices can use to reduce reliance on these systems. She also was a guest of the Sound Sister’s podcast and discussed the strategic insights available when capturing the correct data within your OMS. These experiences ultimately led to the creation of HearShield Pro.
HearShield Pro is built on the belief that most challenges facing audiology practices are not isolated problems—they are systems problems. Billing connects to pricing. Pricing connects to payer mix. Payer mix influences workflows, technology configuration, and marketing strategy.
Rather than offering fragmented advice, HearShield Pro focuses on operational intelligence—helping practices understand how the pieces of their business fit together so they can make informed decisions that protect both revenue and independence.
Kellye’s mission is simple: to help independent audiology practices build sustainable, profitable systems that allow them to thrive without sacrificing their autonomy.
